ABOUT OUR COMPANY
Watt Hotel and Retail is part of a commercial complex in the bustling city of Rahway, New Jersey. The complex contains the Skyview Apartments and the Watt Hotel and Retail. The complex was constructed in 2008 and Bridgeton owns and manages the 100-key hotel.

The guestrooms feature rich wooden furnishings and hardwood floors, as well as amenities including free Wi-Fi, a Keurig coffee maker, and a Smart TV.

Guests are greeted by a rooftop terrace, furnished with cozy chairs, and boasting panoramic views of downtown Rahway. The Watt Restaurant and Lounge is the hotel's on-site restaurant, serving American bar food, crafted cocktails, and local beers. Here guests can enjoy breakfast every morning and live music in the lounge later in the evening.

The hotel also features a 24-hour fitness center, a Tesla room for small meetings, and a free shuttle service to the nearby Rahway NJ Transit Station, where guests can find direct rail services to NYC.


ABOUT THE ROLE


We are looking for a General Manager to join the team As the General Manager, you will oversee all aspects of daily operations at the hotel.

You will provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments, such as housekeeping, front office, food and beverage, and maintenance.

In this role, you will play a key role in ensuring guest satisfaction and obtaining optimum efficiency and economy of operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Strong supervisory skills: ability to appropriately assign/delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals; provide coaching, advice and assistance as required; help employees overcome obstacles and deal with problems.
  • Hire and train employees to support successful daily operations.
  • Manage costs within the hotel, including supplies, utilities, labor expenses to within budget parameters, combing with sales/revenue acumen to deliver an efficient and profitable operation.
  • Knowledge of safety management principles; federal and state OSHA regulations; safety, emergency, and accident policies and procedures.
  • Must be capable of performing all hourly functions and operating all equipment in the hotel.
  • Ability to use repetitive hand and body motions such as grasping, writing, typing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for prolonged periods of time.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE:


  • Review financial reports and statements to understand the property's performance versus budget and expenses.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including budgeting, sales, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage.
  • Lead the property in generation of revenue through sales and marketing efforts.
  • Coach and support the hotel team to effectively manage occupancy and rates, wages, and controllable expenses.
  • Ensure full compliance with the hotel's operating controls, SOP's, policies, procedures and service standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • At least 4 years' experience as a General Manager OR 5 years of hotel operations experience in a director capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hilton brand experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with operating a Property Management System(s).
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in high volume settings.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
