- Analyzing system performance, identify problems, design, develop, and implement solutions
- Extending metrics collection and create visualizations to better quantify systems performance
- Building tools to help identify system performance problems faster
- Training other Akamai engineers to identify performance issues
- Working with teams across the company to implement your solutions
- Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Have extensive programming experience in C, as well experience in Python, Bash, or Perl
- Possess deep understanding of the Linux operating system and computer system architectures
- Demonstrate experience with virtualization technologies (KVM, Xen, etc)
- Possess experience with performance analysis tools like Linux perf, bcc tools, etc
- Demonstrate experience with concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis
- Have proficiency with network protocols, including IP, IPv6, TCP, UDP, ICMP

Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $134,466 - $214,782/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
