Position Overview:

Enhances the operational efficiency of Imaging Services.

This is achieved by directly assisting the imaging technologist(s) and performing a variety of tasks to enhance the flow of patients, supplies and information to, from, and within the Imaging department.

Typical responsibilities of this role include patient room preparation, stock/inventory maintenance, patient transport coordination and occasional reception/scheduling duties as needed.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:


TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

  • Assists the technologist during examinations including lifting, holding, and/or positioning patients for the procedure.
  • Assures rooms are prepared with the correct equipment and supplies needed for each scheduled exam.
  • Reviews the schedule and identifies conflicts or potential problems or risks and takes action to resolve issues in advance.
  • Assists in room turnover by changing linens and cleaning surfaces between patients. Cleans equipment, disposes of waste properly, restocks supplies and leaves the workplace ready for subsequent exams.

PATIENT SERVICES

  • Instructs and assists patients as needed with activities necessary to prepare for an imaging procedure.
  • Escorts outpatients to dressing rooms or exam areas as needed.
  • Transports inpatients to appropriate area of department using appropriate means of transportation and returns patient back to room following exam.
  • Assist patients with the completion of forms and/or verbally screen patients.
  • Provide instruction or assistance during or after an imaging procedure.
COMMUNICATION/DEPARTMENT COORDINATION

  • Communicates effectively with imaging technologists, patients and others in and outside of the department.
  • Assists as directed to gather and communicate information regarding patient preparation, readiness for exam, level of care needed for transport, any special services or equipment needed to successfully complete the procedure.
  • Provide information to nursing units and others regarding patient preparation requirements of specific exams or resource availability.
  • Assist clinicians in obtaining records, study reports, film, etc. and ensure appropriate information is delivered to the correct exam room in a timely manner.
  • Assist receptionist in scheduling, greeting, and checking in/outpatients as needed.

SAFETY

  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, by inventorying and ordering accessories and supplies periodically to maintain established stock levels.
  • Transports or arranges for transport of supplies and equipment between units or departments as needed.
  • Inspects and arranges for equipment repairs, monitors cost and needs for replacement.

COMPLIANCE

  • Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.
  • Assists in assuring regulatory compliance is maintained
  • Retains and completes continuing education requirements to meet departmental and facility requirements.

EDUCATION:


HS Diploma:
High School Diploma or General Education (GED)


CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider


DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
