    Description
    Areté Optical Engineer, Laser Opportunity

    • Primary Responsibilities:
    • Drive technical research for laser and sensor development programs.
    • Develop proposals for new science and technology projects.
    • Prepare calculations, models, and simulations for solid-state laser system performance.
    • Analyze experimental data to evaluate laser system performance.
    • Develop laser and optical system specifications.
    • Work on design with manufacturing and engineering teams.
    • Assemble, align, and test lasers and optical systems.
    • Create and document designs, procedures, and performance.
    • Design optical fixtures and tests to assist laser alignment and construction.
    • Inspect optical components and systems.
    • Prepare and deliver technical briefings.
    • Participate in design reviews and maintain system design documentation.

    • Background We Look For:
    • PhD or MS with 5+ years in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Optical Engineering.
    • Experience in laser physics, hardware build, DoD research, and development programs.
    • Intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and in a team.
    • Proficient in MS Office, electrical and optical test equipment, Matlab, Mathematica, Python, and more.
    • Salary Range: $120,000 to $170,000

    • Requirements:
    • U.S. citizenship, government security investigation, and criminal background screening.
    • Passing a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test.
