    Opportunities: Project Managers for Infrastructure Capital Delivery

    Amtrak will be hiring Project Managers at various levels to support our Capital Delivery department. Open positions may include:

    • Sr Project Manager
    • Principal Project Manager

    The Project/ Sr Project Manager is responsible for managing high or mega complexity projects of large and complex components of a larger program. Individual in this role use advance knowledge of project management processes and controls to accomplish project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities with some indirect supervision from PMO Director, and may have either direct reports or matrixed subordinate team members. The role requires regular analytical and metrics-based reporting to other staff, Executive Committee, and stakeholders.

    Opportunities will exist to support major capital construction and infrastructure renewal projects in various locations across the Amtrak system. Some examples of our capital projects include:
    • Susquehanna River Bridge
    • East River Tunnels
    • Connecticut River Bridge
    • Frederick Douglass (B&P) Tunnels
    • Concrete Tie Replacement Program
    • Hudson River Tunnel
    Preferred Skills & Experience:
    • Strong project management skills with prior experience managing complex cross-functional projects in a highly matrixed environment
    • Experience with cross-project/program dependency identification and management
    • Strong Written and Oral communication skills with ability to present complex information and respond to complex needs of a large and visible project or program
    • Ability to network with internal and external stakeholders, and leverage relationships to resolve complex project issues
    • Effectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project),
    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years of project management experience, or any equivalent combination of education and work experience
    • PMP (Must be willing to obtain within 12 months of date of hire)
    • Must have work authorization in the United States.
    • Transportation industry experience
    • Direct or matrixed people management experience is a plus.
    The salary/hourly range is $78,6-176,040. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.     In accordance with DOT regulations (49 CFR § 40.25), Amtrak is required to obtain prior drug and alcohol testing records for applicants/employees intending to perform safety-sensitive duties for covered Department of Transportation positions. If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.

    In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
