At the Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing (MFSON), we believe in assigning clear responsibilities to our team members and supporting them in reaching both departmental and personal career objectives.
The role of a Nursing Instructor involves coordinating, planning, delivering, and assessing program instruction and related activities. The Nursing Instructor reports directly to the Dean of Nursing.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Consistently incorporate Watson's Theory of Caring and QSEN Competencies into teaching.
- Utilize knowledge from nursing science, humanities, and other disciplines in lesson preparation.
- Demonstrate clinical skills following best practices.
- Guide students in achieving and maintaining competency levels.
- Motivate students to excel in their studies.
- Conduct academic and clinical competency meetings with students.
- Propose revisions to courses and syllabi.
- Select appropriate textbooks and resources for courses.
- Organize learning experiences to help students meet objectives.
- Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records.
- Hold regular office hours as per College guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with students, peers, and groups.
- Orient students to clinical settings and objectives.
- Coordinate student activities within clinical settings.
- Assess the quality of clinical facilities.
- Attend faculty meetings and convocations regularly.
- Engage in department and College committees and activities.
- Assist in program development and evaluation.
- Generate reports for program evaluations.
- Represent the school professionally to external agencies and the community.
- Pursue professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to peer reviews.
- Adhere to all College policies.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Nevada.
- Master's degree in nursing OR Bachelor's in nursing with a related master's or doctoral degree.
- Three years of registered nursing experience.
Full-Time Position: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional early mornings for evening clinical courses.
