Our goal is to promote greater diversity in U.S. high schools, facilitate cultural awareness amongst American and international students, and ease the process of living and learning abroad.


Through the years, APEX has created a portfolio of private day schools located exclusively in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, California, Rhode Island, a private dormitory in Connecticut, and host families that oversee the well-being, care, safety and education of international students annually.

Our program ensures that students will succeed not only academically, but also socially while integrating into the American culture and education system.


RESIDENTIAL LIFE COORDINATOR (with Live-In RA Option available)

Apex International Education Partners, LLC (APEX) is seeking a professional and reliable full-time
Residential Life Coordinator for our international middle-school and high-school student dormitory located in Derby, Connecticut.


Salaried, Exempt, Monday-Friday (Afternoons & Evenings).

Live-In RA option available w/ FREE Room & Board (2-3 Evenings/week, Every other Weekend).


Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Mandarin or previous work with Chinese/International students is a plus.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


This
Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) will be responsible for working closely with our students, Dorm Parents and other RLCs to ensure the overall safety, well-being, engagement and academic success of our international students living in the dormitory.


These responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with the daytime international Residential Life Coordinators (RLCs) to seamlessly transfer RLC responsibilities and followup from daytime to nighttime.
  • Plan, organize and execute new arrivals & departures of students to/from the dormitory scheduled in the afternoons and evenings.
  • Ensure dormitory room is ready for new student occupancy. Meet and greet new students. Provide welcome packets and tours for new students.
  • Help coordinate and host dormitory student Welcome & Orientation sessions. Work with Student Ambassadors to help new students fully acclimate to dormitory living.
  • Coordinate student departures and transportation needs for students scheduled to leave in the afternoons and evenings. Ensure students are fully packed, rooms are cleaned, and all dormitory property is returned.
  • Work with the transportation team to ensure students have the necessary transportation needed for school pickups and activities scheduled in the afternoons, evenings and on the weekends.
  • Occasionally drive company vehicles to transport students to medical appointments, dorm activities, etc.
  • Have dinner with students each night at 5:30PM, engaging students in conversations. Be supportive and be there to listen.
  • Provide tutoring, counseling and mentoring sessions during the evenings on a set meeting schedule.
  • Monitor nightly study hall in the classroom, ensuring students have a quiet place to study and complete their work.
  • Conduct room checkins each night from 7:30pm8:30pm, ensuring the whereabouts of every residential student. Ensuring proper permissions/approvals are attained and verified for any student absences from the dormitory.
  • Conduct Health & Safety Inspections of student rooms twice weekly.
  • Use the REACH Student Management app to keep records of student attendance, event participation, leave requests, etc.
  • Ensure students are back in the dorm by curfew (8:00pm on school nights, 10:30pm on weekends) and are observing Quiet Hours.
  • Address any student concerns or issues (ie academic, behavioral, social), implement remedies and consistently monitor progress. Share feedback with daytime RLCs and help prepare and file student monthly status reports.
  • Collaborate with dormitory nurse to ensure the continuous health and wellbeing of student residents. Monitor and follow up with students, in the afternoons and evenings, who are absent from school during the day. Schedule and bring students to doctor's appointments, if needed, in the afternoons or evenings. Provide translations at appointments, if needed. Be available to assist and provide transportation for student in emergency situations, when needed.
  • Maintain, update and keep confidential student records and files, including Dormitory Student Master List, Room Assignments, Nightly Check-In List and Student Health Records.
  • Meet with and advise students on the selection, planning and participation in their required Community Service hours/project(s). Handle required paperwork to confirm project hours met and submission to appropriate school.
