Description

Harvard-Westlake School is a leading independent, all gender college preparatory day school consisting of two campuses, located in Los Angeles, California with approximately 1,600 students enrolled in grades seven through twelve.

The Visual Arts Department is housed in the Feldman-Horn Center for the Arts designed by architect Michael Maltzan.

It houses studio facilities for drawing and painting, analog and digital photography, film/video, ceramics, sculpture, glass, cinema studies, and art history, as well as a 2,000 square foot gallery space.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or BFA Visual Arts; MA or MFA degree in visual arts or arts education preferred, with an emphasis in drawing and painting.
  • Ability to teach drawing and painting is primary; flexibility to teach other disciplines in visual arts is a plus.
  • Teaching experience at the high school (strongly preferred) or college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts in a clear and concise manner to students and to foster an innovative and creative learning environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues with an understanding and commitment to cultural competency and how to support a diverse community of learners


This position is full time and short term, for the eight-week period from
Monday, September 16, 2024 through
Friday, November 8, 2024.

Anticipated base compensation is $15,000 to $20,000 depending on experience.
