- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patient medical histories and assessments of functional capabilities.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare workers to integrate medical insights into patient care plans.
- Develop personalized care plans with clear goals and expected outcomes, designed to address each patient's unique challenges and needs.
- Implement therapeutic interventions using exercises, manual therapy techniques, and assistive devices to enhance mobility and alleviate pain.
- Engage in hands-on treatment to encourage movement, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
- Instruct and guide patients through exercises and activities that aid in improving their physical abilities.
- Regularly evaluate and document patient progress, adjusting care plans and exploring alternative treatments as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education on the recovery process and strategies to cope with challenges.
- Educate patients on how to manage their condition and maintain their health independently.
- Teach patients and families about post-treatment care and exercises to continue their recovery at home.
- Specialize in treating specific patient populations such as sports injuries, orthopedic conditions, geriatrics, or neurological disorders.
- Work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care, including supervising the work of physical therapist assistants and aides.
- A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active state licensure to practice physical therapy.
- Experience in orthopedics, sports medicine, or related fields is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose patient conditions and develop effective treatment plans.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and work collaboratively with a healthcare team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices and emerging research in physical therapy.
- The role requires a considerable amount of physical activity including standing, walking, lifting, and demonstrating therapeutic exercises and techniques.
- The work environment is primarily within the clinic's rehabilitation space but may include offsite locations for patient assessments and community outreach programs.
