JOB OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, primary function of this position is to instruct summer rugby programming to youth in grades 3-8.
MAJOR DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITES
- Instruction of rugby specific skills, drill implementation, lesson planning or following lesson plans, game management, and skill evaluation.
- On site contact for customer service, parent questions, equipment issues, and cancellations.
- Tournament assignments include team management, equipment management, and travel to away matches.
- Confronts inappropriate behavior, documents incidents, and refers policy violators as needed.
- Maintain and submit all required paperwork to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Be prepared to react to an emergency situation.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferably 16 years of age or older.
- Must hold current First Aid and CPR certifications, or obtain upon hire.
- Prior experience instructing youth sports is preferred.
- A strong rugby background is required, previous teaching or coaching experience is preferred.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with other program staff, participants, and the general public.
- Ability to interpret rules and regulations, Department protocol, and enforce policy firmly and fairly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
