- Obtain blood samples and prepare them for analysis and distribution; instruct patients in appropriate specimen collection procedures; Collect MRSA Pre-Op swabs.
- Determine appropriate tubes, sample types, and collection timing for the various laboratory tests.
- Responsible for receiving specimens from in-house and off-site clinics/agencies and determine their acceptability for testing. Navigate and research orders in
- Accurate and timely accessioning of patient and testing information into the laboratory information system (LIS) and initial troubleshooting of problems.
- Accurately identify and screen all Medicare orders for Medical Necessity utilizing McKesson - Pathways Compliance Advisor (PCA); review ABN status with patients or clinics, and obtain appropriate signatures when indicated.
- Responsible for the general cleanliness and appearance of the phlebotomy area of the laboratory. Tasks involve organizing or removing clutter and related duties.
