LACON, IL


Reports To:


The Line Technician takes direction from the Line Operator and reports to the Assistant Production Manager, followed by the Production Manager.


Job Overview:


The Line Technician is an integral part of the production process and is responsible for visual quality inspection and packaging/material handling of finished product.

A successful Line Technician will consistently demonstrate safe working procedures throughout their daily roles, collaborating with other team members to improve daily production floor efficiencies.

Responsibilities and Duties:


The Function of the Line Technician is to:

  • Maintain a safe working environment, including the following:
  • Consistent use of Personal Protection Equipment
  • Safe operation of forklift and other equipment
  • Safe use of power tools and hand tools
  • Product quality inspections
  • Ensure consistent perforations
  • Conduct visual inspection of pipe formation
  • Conduct final inspection of finished product for uniformity
  • Conduct finished product labeling
  • Assist with tooling changeovers, line startups, and line shutdowns, as well as downstream equipment setup and maintenance
  • Crosstrain in machine operation and develop new skill sets
  • Assist in lean manufacturing improvements and housekeeping, including
  • 5second improvements
  • Maintain organized workspace
  • Sweep, clean, and mop asneeded
  • Collaborate with the production team to improve production efficiencies
  • Complete finished product packaging using downstream equipment
  • Maintain correct production inventory records

Qualifications:


  • Education level: High school diploma or equivalency is required.
  • Experience: Some factory work experience is preferred.
  • Specific skills: The Line Technician must be capable of building and maintaining open, honest working relationships with others, setting goals, resolving problems, and making decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness. The Line Technician must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and perform some mathematical calculations.
  • Personal characteristics: The Line Technician will demonstrate a commitment to high personal and professional ethical standards and align decisions with a team mentality. Ideally, the Line Technician will possess an interest in personal and professional development.
  • Physical abilities: The Line Technician must possess the ability to work in a loud noise environment, while consistently lifting up to 25 pounds and, occasionally, 75 pounds. The Line Technician will use their hands and reach with hands/arms, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for up to 2/3 of the workday. Good distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision and depth perception is also required.
