Overview:


Kimley-Horn is looking for an Experienced Public Involvement Specialist in the Richmond, Virginia (VA) office This is not a remote position.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct research and gather information for multiple projects.
  • Set up project contact information using approved branding and style.
  • Produce and maintain various stakeholder databases.
  • Monitor and prepare responses to public inquiries.
  • The ability to selfcheck for quality as part of our QC process.
  • Create, edit and produce public involvement documents and social media content
  • Support the development and facilitation of events, including public open houses, workshops, public hearings, neighborhood meetings, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, conferences, oneonone meetings, stakeholder meetings, and other public events.
  • Record meeting minutes and distribute summaries of action items.
  • Balance and manage multiple tasks and priorities with ease.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the KHA Communications Team.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications and/or outreach with infrastructure, transportation, or other complex projects
  • Bachelors or Master Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Planning, Government Relations, or related field
  • Exceptional command of English, with excellent written/oral communication and proofing skills. Experience writing for multiple audiences and presenting technical concepts in a clear and concise structure
  • Excellent people skills include communicating, listening, and summarizing information, documenting interactions, and problemsolving or reducing conflicts
  • Customer service mindset
  • Ability to interface with a variety of clients and the public
  • Experience with the development and implementation of public outreach and or communications plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Flexibility to periodically work outside regular working hours and travel, as required for business needs. Must have a valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and insurance (we reimburse mileage)
