Monarch Learning Academy is an independent private Christian preschool, elementary and middle school for children ages one year through 8th grade.

We are currently seeking a Kindergarten teacher that values experiential learning in a dynamic and fun environment. Our mission is for our students to thrive academically, love unconditionally and serve globally. We nourish, equip and celebrate the whole child.

Specific job details follow:
Planning and Preparation

  • Classroom ready to receive students in the morning
  • Create Scope and Sequence for the year
  • Classroom set up
  • Create lesson plans
  • Prep for daily lessons (copies, projects, etc)
  • Cognizant of due dates for lesson plans, progress reports and report cards
  • Purchase specific classroom supplies and submit reimbursement within the budgetary guidelines
  • Plan and attend field trips Curriculum and Instruction
  • Instruct Curriculum in place with fidelity and intention
  • Maintain pacing expectations in regard to scope and sequence
- 'Create' and integrate curriculum pieces to supplement published pieces

  • Collaboratively create curriculum pieces for areas of study and interest
  • Balance lesson plans with teachable moments
  • Maintain daily routine in class
  • Guided reading with small groups/math differentiated groups
  • Ongoing assessment of skills and maximizing assessment data with action learning plans
  • Prepare 3 days' worth of emergency substitute plans
  • Teach to each individual student differentiate and modify according to needs
  • Prepare students to be creative, critical thinkers capable and independent
  • Grade assignments
  • Conduct Morning Meetings
  • Provide guidance and instruction for socialemotional growth (Social Bridges)
  • Provide enrichment and/or support work for students who need to go deeper and broader
Learning Atmosphere

  • Cultivate a love for learning
  • Set classroom expectations for students and parents
  • Develop and maintain a classroom management strategy that clearly communicates expectations to students and parents, as well as consequences for misbehavior
  • Update bulletin boards monthly/seasonally
  • Discipline within the guidelines set by Monarch Learning Academy
  • Nurture social emotional for each individual student
  • Develop character, citizenship and faith in each student
  • Support a Christfilled learning environment
  • Maintain clean classroom Accountability and Parent Communication and Support
  • Plan and host your classroom Curriculum Night
  • Fall and Spring Parent/Teacher conferences
  • Weekly Newsletter
  • Specific student information communication as needed
  • Communicate weekly progress by sending home assignments
  • Prepare Progress Reports and Report Cards with timely submission
  • Communication with specials teachers as to class cancellations due to field trips and student social emotional dynamics
  • Through student progress monitoring, discuss student exceptionalities (who may require further evaluation) with admin.
  • Keep Gradebook current
Other

  • Awareness of specific allergies/needs of each individual student
  • Oversee lunch and recess
  • Work along classroom parents to plan parties and special events
  • Attend Chapel
  • Attend Faculty Meetings, Mind Stretchers, Kindergarten/1st Grade Team meetings, Working Reviews and Child Chats
  • Attend meetings and discussions for students, addressing areas of growth and concerns
  • Attend Morning Prayer
  • Provide a Snack time
  • Awareness of and preparation for all safety drill procedures
  • School Information System data entry (attendance, gradebook and behavior)
  • Take coursework to obtain and maintain teacher certification
  • Weave executive functioning into curriculum
  • Weave inclusivity concepts and individuals into all areas of instruction
  • Attend professional development workshops/seminars
  • Utilization of Monarch's grading policy and use of rubrics
  • Attendance at Monarch events (Shine event is required)
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families
  • Additional responsibilities and support as needed
