JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


The College of Engineering Advising Center within Penn State's College of Engineering is an innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative team that fosters networks of resources, guidance, and direction for students.

We are seeking an Academic Adviser to join our team in providing academic advising to first and second-year engineering students.

The Academic Adviser will be responsible for serving students in navigating their unique learning experiences and helping them determine appropriate academic plans.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Advise students about academic programs, as well as assess other needs and make professional referrals.
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records.
  • Guide students in course selection and scheduling.
  • Resolve academic problems, escalating unusual matters.
  • Identify and monitor academic progress.
  • Participate in various college programs, such as New Student Orientation, Accepted Student Programs, and group advising presentations.
  • Interact with students, parents, faculty, and various college staff members.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$42, $67,300.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).

The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
