Description

To set up and operate manually from tape, disc, and/or direct inputted programs CNC horizontal machining center equipment to perform various milling, drilling, tapping, boring, grooving, facing, tapering, cutting off, slotting and deburring to perform machining operations in conjunction with CNC equipment.

• Receive instructions, print requirements, route cards, program tapes, and shop orders from the Foreman, Programmer, Floor Inspector, and Instructor.
• Reads and interprets prints and setup information to determine tool and setup requirements. Checks for proper material, part number, pattern number, and heat number.
• Loads machine manually, with hoist or crane, positions in fixture and/or aligns and clamps, calculates, layouts, and checks for machining stock.
• Operates CNC horizontal machining center and controls program offsets and edits as needed to mill, turn, face, bore, groove, slot, drill, tap, ream, and taper castings forging, and weldments of various materials. Loads and unloads pallet shuttle internal to machining. Checks and verifies dimensional and visual characteristics internal to the machine cycle.
• Selects, grinds, and sets up proper tools as necessary.
• Checks dimensions of rough and finished cuts against specifications, along with surface finish requirements using measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, scales, dial indicators, and gauges. Works to.0002" tolerance.
• Disassembles, cleans and lubricates machine per required schedule.
• Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.

• Interpret detailed prints, set up and operate CNC Horizontal Machining Center to perform precision type machining operations.
• Reason through, plan work details from complex blueprints to set up and operate the CNC Horizontal Machining Center.
• Uses various tools and gages to operate CNC Horizontal Machining Center to mill, turn, face drill, tap, bore, ream, groove, slot, cut off, deburr, index table, pallet shuttle and etc.
• Close attention and care are required to prevent damage to cutting tools, gages, and machines.
• Horizontal Machining Center needs an experienced (10 years) machinist capable of setting up and operating modern two pallet systems, knowledge and experience of high feed cutters required, experience with Fanuc controls required.
• Operates a Horizontal Machining Center where continuity of production is required.
• Moderate physical exertion. Handles mediumweight materials and tools. Works on machine platform while loading and unloading parts and fixtures.
