Summary:


Subject to the applicable provisions of the Northern Light Mercy Bylaws, policies of the Northern Light Mercy Board of Trustees, the Covenant Agreement with the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, and the direction of the President and Chief Executive Officer (NLH CEO), the SVP and President is responsible for directing the business and affairs of Northern Light Mercy including the development and implementation of long-range objectives, policies and plans.

The SVP and President is accountable for the successful operation of the Northern Light Mercy and all of its activities and for reporting on the health of its operations to the Northern Light Health CEO and the Northern Light Mercy Board of Trustees.

The SVP and President will create a working climate that will foster and enhance job satisfaction and engagement through mutual responsibility for productivity and quality improvement.

The SVP and President will create collaborative and cooperative relationships with the medical staff.

The SVP and President will demonstrate the ability to assess the needs of the facility, develop goals and objectives, and design plans to achieve these objectives effectively and efficiently.

This will be done through leadership, collaboration, integration, facilitation, and evaluations.


Responsibilities:


  • Carries forth and communicates the mission of the hospital which is consistent with the mission of the Sisters of Mercy and Northern Light Health. Develops, maintains, and creates an organization united by a commitment to the Mission and Values and characterized by open, honest communications and respect for the dignity of the person. Ensures the Missionbased considerations guide the use of human, financial and material resources and shape plans for future services to those served. Acts to secure the human right to healthcare, especially for the poor and underserved; addresses issues of social justice; promotes conditions in society that contribute to health rather than illness. Ensures organizational adherence to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare. Ensures the management team develops and maintains processes to confirm that Mercy's Values are visibly reflected in all aspects of organizational life.
  • In collaboration with the Vice President, Mission Integration, ensures oversight of the Covenant Agreement. Ensures that significant decisions are guided by a valuesbased decisionmaking process. Collaborates with the VP Mission Integration, the leadership team of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy, and Board of Trustees on matters pertaining to the hospital's philosophy and mission. Communicates the hospital's philosophy and mission and values to all organizational levels. Exemplifies how the hospital's philosophy and mission may be articulated and applied. Exemplifies how the hospital's philosophy and mission may be operationalized via collaboration in organizational development and in other activities that enhance team building and a positive work climate. Integrates the mission and values into the health system's strategic and operational processes. Ensures that strategic and operational planning is consistent with the values, philosophy, and mission of the hospital.
  • The key areas of focused improvement outside of the financial realm are employee engagement and cultural transformation, leading to improvements in clinical quality, patient safety and overall patient experience. These areas of focus must be done in a manner that enhances transparency, systemness and teamwork resulting in the attainment of established goals.
  • Establish a comprehensive strategic plan. The strategic plan will clarify specific approaches and timelines that are measurable, establish KPIs and competencies that ensure longterm success of the organization as well as new initiatives, and take full advantage of Northern Light Health wide collaboration, support and resources.
  • Work with and engage the Board of Trustees in the strategic planning and direction of the organization. Support board alignment with the NLH board.
  • Lead the Northern Light Mercy senior leadership team, setting direction, modeling behavior, and continuously improving clinical and administrative operations as well as community access. Ensure clear lines of responsibility, accountability and communication within senior management. Support the organizations leaders and assure they have the appropriate tools and resources to achieve expectations. Use Infor software to clearly define annual goals and accountability.
