Organizational Capacity Strengthening Expert:

Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a
Organizational Capacity Strengthening Expert for the anticipated five-year Global Heath Risk and Capacity (GHRC) Mechanism funded by USAID.

The purpose of the mechanism is to provide services to USAID health programs in support of the Agency's goal to support local leadership and capacity in development.

The mechanism will (i) support USAID OUs' engagement with local organizations, (ii) support capacity strengthening of USAID funded local health partners (both government and non-governmental) and (iii) support the capacity of USAID local health partners through global activities that promote knowledge exchange.


This will be a full-time position and will be contingent on award and funding.

The position's responsibilities
will include:


  • Plan and implement OCS with GHRC grantees and partners, including designing and administering organizational assessments.
  • Track data relevant to OCS initiatives for each grantee and partner organization.
  • Provide guidance and coordinate support to project partners, including on issues of programmatic and budget management activities, compliance, monitoring and evaluation, and documentation.
  • Identify potential resources within partner and grantee organizations and provide them with mentorship to leverage them for OCS.
  • Establish and develop relationships with incountry capacity building organizations and resource persons to procure organizational assessments, organizational capacity strengthening planning, training, and other technical assistance.
  • Develop regular reports and conduct ongoing activity monitoring consistent with the requirements of DI's agreement with USAID and with internal reporting requirements.

  • Contribute to ongoing Democracy International business development efforts around the world.

_Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field, or bachelor's degree with ten years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in organizational strengthening and capacity building for donorfunded projects.
  • Deep understanding of the best practices, approaches, and methodology in programming related to organizational capacity building.
  • Strong understanding of USAID Localization Policy.
  • Deep knowledge of USAID regulatory and compliance requirements is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with local public health organizations focused on serving the needs of their community, particularly underserved populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • English required; proficiency in one or more foreign languages preferred.
