Job Summary


The Resin Grinding Group Leader works under the direction of the Resin Grinding Supervisor and the direct supervision of the Resin Manufacturing Supervisor.

This job involves overseeing resin grinding activities for manufacturing and packing products to meet customer requirements.

Acts as a working leader in the Resin Grinding section of the Resin Department, ensuring production proceeds according to Resin Grinding Supervisor's plan.


Main Duties
Assists with supervision and training of department personnel. Monitors and coordinates resin grinding production activities and equipment operation. Ensures established production schedules are maintained.

Follows production plan developed by Resin Grinding Supervisor and Resin Planner/Scheduler.

Makes adjustments to plan if required to maintain schedule, keep high priority products running, and optimize staff and equipment utilization.

Reviews and prepares Grinding and QA logs for scheduled production. Delivers QA logs to lab and checks logs in QA lab for blends remaining. Deletes or changes blends and logs if needed. Prints labels for scheduled products. Assigns Resin Grinders to available production units.

Monitors and adjusts work-in-process to meet product specifications.

Inspects grinding area to ensure proper grinding procedures, equipment operation, and maintenance and housekeeping procedures are observed. Inspects roof explosion vents and condition of bags in dust collectors and pulsators. Ensures equipment is in safe working condition and all safety procedures are followed throughout the department.

Makes rounds through all production units a minimum of 4 times per shift. Collects all logs and tickets from work stations. Updates and maintains production schedule log throughout shift. Enters production data (start/stop times, delays, and equipment/storage information as required) in ERP system for work center utilization. Verifies production reported while packing and makes necessary corrections to ensure all data is accurate.

Assists Resin Grinders in evaluating equipment problems and plug-ups.

Works with and under direction of the Resin Grinding Supervisor in resolving and fixing equipment breakdowns and clearing out equipment plug-ups.

Reports all problems and malfunctioning equipment and takes appropriate action whenever possible. Assists personnel in overcoming production bottlenecks. Prepares work orders and contacts Maintenance Department as required or directed.

Helps troubleshoots equipment, production, and quality problems to try to resolve the problem.

Closely monitors production activities to ensure schedules are maintained, quality product is manufactured, and equipment and manpower utilization is optimized.

Reassigns workers and equipment as needed to ensure downtime is minimized.


Performs service and relief work when necessary to assist Resin Grinders during job set-ups, equipment breakdowns, equipment plug-ups or as substitute for absentees.

Acquires and maintains working knowledge of all department equipment and jobs to provide assistance and supervision to personnel.

Substitutes for Resin Grinding Supervisor in performance of grinding duties during absences or as directed by department supervisor.
