- Manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting department including:
- Maintains Outlook finance calendar and monitors deadlines are met.
- Performs month and yearend process in a timely manner.
- Keeps general ledger reconciliations and supporting analysis current.
- Reviews financial variances between actual to budget and to prior year.
- Prepares and distributes monthly department schedules.
- Maintains the chart of accounts in the ERP system.
- Manages booking of fixed assets as per headquarters' policy.
- Oversees accounts payable and general accounting duties (and staff).
- Coordinates banking activities with staff (initiate wires/ach/credit cards).
- Reconciles E-Commerce payments to the bank accounts.
- Reviews cost and quantity inventory adjustments.
- Manages yearend annual statutory audit.
- Manages annual business insurance renewals.
- Manages and complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- Manages the sales tax process integration with the ERP system.
- Assists with out of State sales and income tax compliance analysis.
- Monitors accounting processes and suggests internal controls enhancements.
- Assists with preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Assists in the preparation of quarterly PowerPoint presentations to headquarters.
- Assists with monthly reporting to headquarters.
- Assists as payroll processing backup and reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Assists with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed.
- Prepares monthly accounting meeting with VP of Finance and presents results concerning accounting performance.
- Other responsibilities, as assigned by the VP of Finance.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Minimum of 7 years of supervisory accounting experience, with emphasis in the consumer goods/wholesale distribution industry.
- Experience managing staff.
- High proficiency in Excel.
- ERP experience, Microsoft Business Central experience is a plus.
