New Philadelphia Dual Production Technology (DPT)

Production technology has evolved as an overarching term for the areas of production technology, production equipment, and production logistics.

The task of production technology is to apply suitable production processes and equipment to carry out production processes with the highest possible productivity.

The Production Technology program is a practical education for careers in production, project management, planning, and quality management in mechanical engineering.

The goal of the dual study program in Production Technology is to obtain a Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) degree and the qualification for a Master's degree.

The study content has been developed in collaboration with cooperating industrial companies to cover the necessary methods and technical knowledge of production technology.

Integration of academic and practical education

The program is linked to both practical and theoretical education.

During the first stage of the program, students spend three days a week in practical training and additional time during breaks in the academic year.

The necessary knowledge for a successful completion of the training with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) is provided through vocational training at the Vocational School (BBS).

The first stage of the program ends after four semesters, along with the IHK exam.


The second stage of the program consists of two semesters of full-time study with practical training during breaks in the academic year, where students work on projects supervised by the university.

The final Bachelor's thesis in the 7th semester is completed in the company.
