    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Actuarial Analyst specializing in Reserving to join our team.

    The Senior Actuarial Analyst will play a critical role in guiding and completing actuarial reserve analyses to develop recommendations for executive leadership.

    This position requires strong analytical abilities, advanced technical skills, and the capability to influence decisions that impact reserves adequacy strategies.

    Reserving do at GAINSCO?


    • Conduct in-depth actuarial analyses of data and trends to provide recommendations for reserves adequacy.
    • Utilize actuarial methodologies to source and process data from the data warehouse.
    • Complete quarterly reserve analyses, including data validation, trends analysis, and review of actuarial reserves methodologies.
    • Collaborate with Claims teams to enhance understanding of claim evaluations and their impact on reserves.
    • Analyze reserves in response to internal and external influences.
    • Prepare and review reserving-related reports and effectively communicate findings with partner teams.
    • Participate in peer reviews to ensure quality work and foster collaboration.
    • Document assumptions, methods, sources, and considerations in an organized manner.
    • Partner with leadership to develop team strategy, process improvements, and new methodologies.
    • Prepare actuarial briefings suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to Actuarial Analysts within the team.

    Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Successful completion of a minimum of 4 actuarial exams.
    • Minimum Bachelor's degree, with preference in a quantitative analytical field such as Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Finance and Economics.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 4 or more years in relevant personal auto or Property/Casualty Insurance actuarial work experience.
    • Strong knowledge of actuarial reserving theories and techniques.
    • Demonstrable skills in performing mathematical calculation; advanced computer skills, specifically in databases and spreadsheets, including SAS VBA/SQL. Familiarity in programming using R, Python or other comparable language.
    • ARIUS reserve tool experience is a plus.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Preferred candidates will have experience building and developing advanced analytic models and tools.
    • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively plan work for multiple projects. Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in work product.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills. Well organized and detail- oriented with high learning agility.
    • Self-motivated individual able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and contribute as part of a dynamic team.
