Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate veterinary assistant to join our animal care team.
As a veterinary assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients and support to our veterinary staff.
Your primary responsibilities will involve assisting with various medical procedures, ensuring the well-being of animals, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and providing excellent customer services to our clients.
We are looking for a full-time employee willing to work four 10-hour shifts with a flexible schedule that could include weekends and some holidays.
Compensation will be based on experience and skill set.Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in medical procedures, examinations, and surgeries.
- Handle and restrain animal safely and compassionately during treatments and examinations.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarians.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical suites.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Monitor and record vital signs and patient information accurately.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and sample collections as needed.
- Maintain and update patients records with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Provide postoperative care and monitor patients during their recovery.
- Assist with animal husbandry, including feeding, walking, and grooming.
- Interact with clients, providing them with a positive experience and addressing their inquiries.
- Assist with client education on pet care and medical treatments.
- Participate in regular training and educational opportunities to stay updated on best practices and advancements in veterinary care.
- Work collaboratively with the veterinary team to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Veterinary Assistant Certification is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or related field is a plus.
- Strong passion for animals and their wellbeing.
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including standing for extended periods of time and lifting heavy animals.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
