    Position: Systems Engineer – Solutions Architect (SME)

    Clearance: Secret

    Location: Ft. Belvoir, VA

    Type: Exempt, Full Time, Regular

    Description

    The Systems Engineer, (SME) will support ArmyIgnitED's Product Lead and responsible for:

    • Providing systems engineering activities from requirements definition to architecture, design, implementation, test, and implementation
    • Researching and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Army laws, policies, directives, and guidance
    • Supporting the cloud migration and accreditation of ArmyIgnitED
    • Overseeing and assisting in provisioning of privileged users onto the system

    The Systems Engineer (SME) must:

    • Have experience performing system engineering activities in a cloud environment
    • Have knowledge of applicable laws, policies, directives, and guidance
    • Have experience with establishing and maintaining a cloud environment and performance tools such as Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, Splunk, etc.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Advise the Government on current DoD policies and procedures to support major program decisions
    • Support all aspects of strategic planning, acquisition planning, system development, and stakeholder management
    • Lead requirements traceability and analysis, architecture design, development, verification and validation activities
    • Ensure compliance with DoD and Army architectures and acquisition policies
    • Apply cloud-based data and database technologies, data standards, and best practices
    • Develop data architecture and design products
    • Identify data migration strategies
    • Define test procedures and establish associated data sets for testing
    • Collaborate with system interface partners for interface testing
    • Perform Enterprise Architecture and Business Process Reengineering activities
    • Align engineering activities with program acquisition strategies
    • Develop key content for acquisition documentation
    • Lead Technical Requirements Management, Release Management, and Configuration Management
    • Lead systems engineering aspects of contract procurement planning
    • Manage engineering change proposals and requests
    • Develop release plans aligned to capability priorities
    • Lead Systems Engineering Working Integrated Product Teams (WIPTs)
    • Communicate project information effectively

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's Degree or equivalent experience
    • 16-20 years of relevant work experience
    • Working knowledge and application of DoD 5000 and 8000 series, and Business Enterprise Architecture
    • 10 or more years of DoD systems engineering support for IT-based systems
    • 5 or more years of Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) support

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Broad and deep set of engineering expertise
    • Extensive experience in aligning systems engineering activities throughout the acquisition program life cycle phases
    • Strong coordination, organization, and communication skills
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to understand and explain problem resolutions
    • Ability to respond quickly to queries from leadership
    • Ability to work independently
