Get to know the opportunity:


The Business Development Director role is responsible for the strategic development, coordination, and execution/delivery of Voya's prospecting efforts to Emerging Markets advisors and intermediaries.

This role will work will set the strategy for Voya campaign deployment of the EM sales team based on what is happening in the industry and territories specifically as well as Voya's new product and service offerings with the goal of increasing engagement with new and dormant advisors.

He/she will be responsible for working with the Data Science team to identify and score prospects nationally and develop/maintain a system that creates visibility for our sales teams and business partners.

The role will partner with Marketing and Sales Enablement to identify the sales story, develop digital tools and engagement methods, and automate distribution, follow up and tracking.

The Business Development Director will partner with regional VPs of Sales to assess prospecting needs of the territory and determine how to appropriately address.

He/she will be responsible for reporting results to leadership and making decisions on future state strategy. This role may manage other internal sales support roles


The Contributions You'll Make:

  • Develop and execute sales outreach strategies that will maximize Voya's visibility in the marketplace and among advisors and intermediaries.
  • Develop, coach and lead staff in executing sales campaigns and prospecting programs across Emerging Markets to drive increased activity and awareness of the Voya brand among our external partners and prospects.
  • In partnership with the Data Science team, identify universe of legitimate prospects, establish scoring system and prioritize opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales Enablement to ensure alignment around business strategy. Capitalize on opportunities both nationally and regionally with timely and relevant campaigns launched through a variety of mediums.
  • Partner with regional sales managers/VPs of Sales to assess prospecting needs of the territory and determine how to appropriately address with specific focus on inactive partners and prospects.
  • Analyze campaign results and well as market/advisor trends and buying behaviors to determine most impactful prospecting areas.
  • Responsible for establishing a national prospecting strategy and monthly calendar for launching campaigns, communications, and follow up to advisors and intermediaries.
  • Responsibility for the development of campaign specific as well as product specific digital tools to market to new/dormant advisors and to share with the Sales Team, ensuring a consistent and bestinclass engagement strategy.
  • Coordinate with Consultant Relations and Broker Dealer RM to develop firm specific campaigns. Report success to partners and leadership.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting engagement, and campaign success and effectively present results to leadership.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive insights and advisor trends in the marketplace.
  • Successfully present the Voya story to intermediaries; help to establish, build, and foster long lasting relationhips with advisors and local Sales Directors.
  • Identify opportunities to differentiate Voya using quantifiable data, consultant tendencies, competitor capabilities, and the nuance of the advisor and/or firm.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • BA degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years sales or business development experience with a demonstrative track record of developing sales pipelines, leading sales processes, and transitioning prospects into active partners.
  • 57 years of leadership experience in sales or business development.
  • Experience engaging retirement intermediaries and advisors.
