    Position: Associate Clinical Director, Violence Intervention Advocacy

    Location: Boston, MA

    Schedule: 40 hours per week, On-site

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The VIAP Associate Clinical Director, will work collaboratively with the VP of Hospital Mission and the VIAP Clinical Director and has the primary responsibility of supporting all aspects of program administration and operation, including financial and grants management, strategic planning, personnel management, data reporting, public relations and liaison with community resources and the public. Duties include managing data, maintaining budgets, preparing grants proposals; functioning as a key liaison with public and private funding sources, regulatory agencies and relevant hospital programs.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Program Implementation and Infrastructure

    • Develop, implement and manage projects and/or initiatives for the Violence Intervention Advocacy Program. Supervise the VIAP Mentees and Mentors in the VIAP Mentoring Program
    • Work to develop and implement the new VIAP Mentoring Program including curriculum development and handbook. Create and manage VIAP Mentoring Program budget, documentation, and reports
    • Support Clinical Director to ensure VIAP operates in compliance with all contractual requirements, standards of care, and that infrastructure is in place to ensure sound operational management
    • Support all VIAP related activities which may include: database management, reporting, grant writing; monitoring of funded programs or agencies to ensure compliance; report preparation and writing; and assisting with developing and distributing communications, brochures and educational materials
    • Evaluate projects or initiatives to determine effectiveness and recommend changes/improvements. Partner with Clinical Director to develop long and short range strategic planning for VIAP

    2. Clinical

    • Supports with overseeing the implementation of all clinical client services, to ensure appropriate and quality service delivery. Develops and provides In Service trainings to staff on Trauma Informed Care and VIAP client population
    • Seeks out additional partnerships to ensure program can connect clients to a range of services including but not limited to; mental health and substance abuse treatment, housing, education and life skills training and employment opportunities
    • Chairs weekly multidisciplinary clinical meeting to discuss on-going cases; intervenes in unusual clinical situations and instructs staff how to proceed
    • Provides clinical assessments, including intake, assessment, treatment, transfer, and discharge of patients. Works with existing internal and external partners to ensure seamless delivery of services for high need clients

    3. Personnel Management

    • Ensures culturally appropriate support and supervision to VIAP Team
    • Provides training and clinical weekly supervision to assigned staff
    • Oversees delivery of all services provided by VIAP and assures that all protocols are followed accordingly
    • Designs job descriptions, quarterly expectations, performance measures and work development plans for all staff

    4. Public Relations and Partnerships

    • Co-chairs initiative for Boston City Wide Hospital Initiative, maintaining and enhancing partnerships with Children's Hospital, Brigham & Women's, Beth Israel, Mass General, Tufts, and Carney
    • Acts as liaison to and participates in weekly meeting with the District Attorney's office and other community partners
    • Serves as liaison to the Boston Police Department, including Homicide Unit and Homicide Resource Officers
    • Acts as point person for all Boston Public Health Commission initiates and partnerships with VIAP. Oversees cultivation of new partnerships, including academic institutions for internship placements at VIAP
    • Serves as liaison for VIAP and provides leadership for the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention. Raises the visibility of VIAP through branding, presence in the community, and marketing

    5. Administration

    • Maintains and continuously evaluates VIAP data management system; ensures timely and accurate data collection
    • Works directly with VIAP Data and Research Team to evaluate data to determine status of program activities
    • Writes quarterly progress reports and annual progress reports for submission to the external funding agency/sponsors

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION:

    • Masters' degree preferred- MSW, MBA, or MPH

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

    • State of MA valid driver's license required

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in an urban area with diverse populations and vulnerable clients.
    • Minimum 3 years program and staff management skills and experience

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Ability to work with persons of varying social, cultural and economic backgrounds
    • Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in formal and oral presentations
