This position is in the Office of the Secretary, Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances (ODAI).The mission of the Office of the Secretary is to provide protocol, authentication, and public records management services to the Mayor and the District government agencies.
The Office of the Secretary manages the District of Columbia's archives, commissions all District of Columbia notaries public, and publishes the District of Columbia Register, as well as the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations.
The primary mission of the Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances is to provide prompt preparation, editing, printing, and publication of the _DC Register_ and the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations in accordance with the District of Columbia Documents Act of 1978.
This position functions as a Staff Assistant, responsible for the development, review, and issuance of all legal documents for the District of Columbia government, including the preparation of the _DC Register _and the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR).
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains office files and inventory. Establishes, maintains, schedules, and coordinates the pickup and delivery of all ODAI inventory. Serves as coordinator for the messenger activities for ODAI. Assists senior staff with administrative and clerical details. Performs a variety of duplication functions for the office staff. Serves as the office facsimile technician, receiving and transmitting data using the telefacsimile equipment. Assists the Editor in compiling and proofreading the _DC Register_ and ensuring correct citation and format for publication. Incumbent edits documents for grammar, style, and government terminology.
Qualifications and Education
Specialized experience is an experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
To be creditable, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
