Description

ABOUT US:

  • APC's mission is to end homelessness by providing housing and services to create communities where individuals and families who have experienced homelessness can build toward selfsufficiency. At APC, we believe we better meet our mission by recruiting, training, and retaining a diverse and representative workforce at all job levels of our community. Over 50% of APC's employees have lived experience with homelessness. This experience and our employees' many other skills and talents strengthen our work. APC strives to recruit a racially and ethnically diverse workforce. We aim to provide a workplace for everyone where everyone's voice is heard.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Ploughshares Nursery Youth Workforce Development program offers support, resources, education, employment, and training opportunities for trainees seeking to acquire the essential skills and experiences needed to transition into the workforce or pursue higher education.

This seven-week, part-time program will start on June 18, 2024, and end on August 2, 2024. Participants will engage in 20 hours per week of hands-on experience and curriculum at Ploughshare.

Some examples of these skills include:

  • Answering questions from members of the public about the care of plants

The Ploughshare Nursery Youth Workforce Development program aims to simulate a real workplace environment to help trainees prepare for their future employment or educational careers.
