Description
"The German Railway is one of the most diverse employers in Germany. Every year, we are looking for over 5,000 apprentices in 50 different professions who want to grow and improve with us. We are currently seeking candidates for a 3-year apprenticeship as a train traffic controller (m/f/d) for DB InfraGO AG at our location in Altenburg, with the vocational school located in Schkeuditz. If certain requirements are met, we will support you with longer commutes (e.g. financially). As a train traffic controller, you will be responsible for coordinating our trains. Instead of being on the train, you will be working in a control center (called a "signal box"). We have numerous signal boxes throughout Germany. Using screens or boards, you will be able to monitor the trains in your area and control their movements using buttons, switches, and levers. This includes setting signals (traffic lights for the trains) to green or red and changing switches to allow trains to switch tracks. You will also have many other tasks that make you a crucial team member for the train drivers. You will be in constant communication with them, exchanging information about any changes during the journey. You will work with a small team in the Altenburg area or the surrounding region, in a signal box close to the action. Here, you will see the trains passing by and control their movements using levers, buttons, and switches.
