Duties:


  • Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force.
  • Prepare shift schedules, work assignments for shift personnel, authorize overtime work, and grant leave based upon mission requirements.
  • Conduct traffic and security patrols to enforce federal, state, Department of Defense, Department of the Army and local regulations.
  • Respond to and investigate offenses against persons and property.
  • Question and apprehend suspects utilizing the appropriate level of authorized force.
  • Serve as Watch Commander performing operational and administrative duties.
  • Direct the work to be accomplished by subordinates engaged in providing law enforcement services.

  • You may be required to sign a 'Drug Test Statement of Understanding' if you are selected for this position.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.

Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56:

  • Successfully pass a preemployment and recurring medical evaluation. Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DoDI and DTM position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 60 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5% of the time may be required.
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Secret security investigation.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential. A Mission Essential employee is required to report for, or remain at, work in emergency situations unless his/her supervisor instructs otherwise.
  • In accordance with AR 69011, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.

  • To qualify you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS08 grade level in the Federal service which includes law enforcement work directing the activities of subordinates engaged in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens; providing leadership to police officers at scenes of serious incidents; developing and presenting formal training classes; observing or responding to reports of crime ranging from violations of simple rules to felonies and capital crimes; or conducting law enforcement investigations.
  • Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
