Job Summary


The Dietetic Technician I PD provides age appropriate nutrition care and is responsible for sterile preparation and unit dose forms of breastmilk and formula pursuant to physicians orders within the hospital centralized preparation lab.

Assists with food service line for specialty patients, calculates and documents calorie counts, plans nourishments under supervision of Registered Dietitian (RD), screens patient at nutritional risk, and provides education and monitoring for low nutritional risk patients.

Pay Range

Minimum $27.00 Midpoint $27.00 Maximum $28.00

  • Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements._
Experience

  • Required: None required.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of DTR experience in acutecare hospital.
Education

  • Required: Must fulfill one of the following: 1) Associate degree in Dietetics or Nutrition related field from an accredited college or university; or 2) undergraduate or Graduate degree in Dietetics or Nutrition related field with eligibility to take the DTR exam within 6 months of hire date.
Training

  • Required: Successful completion of the registration exam to become a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) within 6 months of hire.
Specialized Skills

  • Required: Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate familycentered patient care based upon age appropriateness and cultural needs. Excellent customer satisfaction skills; care with sensitivity and respect. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully provide/promote safe care within the parameters of licensure and regulatory requirements, practice requirements and hospital systems. Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner. Ability to set goals and evaluate results in accordance with the highest standards. Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission.
  • Preferred: Experience with human milk handling and/or infant/enteral formula preparation. Knowledge of CBORD, Nutritionist Pro, Timeless Medical, or other nutrition software systems.
Licensure

  • Required: Registered Dietetic Technician within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferred: Registered Dietetic Technician upon hire.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:
Light - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
