Description:

The Global Futures Laboratory at ASU seeks an Assistant Research Scientist for the Earth League.

This position will be situated within the Earth League Secretariat and will be responsible for executing the mission and vision of the Earth League by communicating sophisticated scientific information produced by the Earth League to the public at large.

Under administrative direction organizes and directs all aspects of assigned functions to achieve organization objectives.

This is a full-time, fiscal year, non-tenure track, benefits eligible position, with an anticipated start date of August 2024.

Subsequent appointments may be offered on an annual basis, under the same terms and conditions, contingent on satisfactory performance, availability of resources and the needs of the university.


Essential Duties:


  • Leading role in the Earth League Secretariat.
  • Supports administration and communication of the Earth League Secretariat.
  • Coordinates the network of lead institutions and Fellows.
  • Participates in and facilitates the dissemination of Earth League meeting results and/or products.
  • Participates in Earth League publications by assisting on preparation of manuscripts.
  • Maintain the content of the Earth League website with technical assistance.
  • Assists in preparing materials for Earth League fundraising.
  • Develops and implements research and communication operations.
  • Coordinates with the Global Futures Laboratory to advance the work of the Earth League.
  • Serve as Research, Communications and Operations liaison to key sponsors, fellows and institutions.
Applicants with any of the following prior experience are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Scientific writing. Finalists will be expected to provide writing samples.
  • Coordination of collaborative consortia.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge and skill in relevant research administration, communication and delivery of support services.
  • Knowledge of project management and working within diverse, crossfunctional teams. Knowledge of sponsored research.
  • Skill in problem solving and decisionmaking.
  • Skill in planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Qualifications:


Required:


  • PhD and three years of research experience (ideally postdoctoral).

Desired:


  • PhD in sustainable development or related field.
