    Description
    Required Skills:
    • Good organizational skills.
    • Good mechanical aptitude.
    • Ability to use logical or rational thinking to solve problems.
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including calculations involving fraction, decimals and percentages as well as algebraic and geometrical calculations.
    • Ability to provide effective written and verbal instructions, as well as to retrieve information from technical sources.
    • Ability to perform heavy physical work; may be required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 20 pounds constantly, performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping for up to five hours without sitting.
    • Principal Duties:
      • Assist the Equipment Manager and Equipment Technicians in appropriate preventive and curative maintenance required for all golf course equipment maintenance operations.
      • Completes daily service records.
      • Assist the Equipment Manager in maintaining appropriate parts for inventory.
      • Ensures that the equipment maintenance shop and appropriate areas are kept clean, organized and provide a safe working environment for all staff members.
      • Must be thoroughly trained in the procedures of each task before performing such tasks.
      • Must follow the guidelines in the golf course maintenance operations manual for each specific task.
      • Required to wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safely operating standards.
      • Be 18 years old and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
      • Perform any other tasks requested by the management.
    Required Work Habits:
    • Work habits include regular attendance, team work, initiative, dependability, positive attitude and promptness.
    Education/Work Related Experience:
    • High school education or equivalent, trade school or secondary education or equivalent. Knowledge of basic engine mechanics and maintenance. Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices helpful.
    Working Conditions: Works primarily in a mechanical shop environment May experience the following:
    • Carbon monoxide fumes from various equipment
    • A variety of grinding tools and machines in repair shop
    • Various insects, compounds and plants
    • Welding devices with open flame
    • Electrical outlets and wiring
    • Equipment in shop on hoists
    • Grease and oil on equipment and shop floor
    • Hot hydraulic fluid
    • Potentially damaging noise levels
    • Dirt, dust, and grass clippings
    • Flying golf balls
    • Smoke from prescribed burn
    • Poisonous snakes
    • Move benches short distances that weigh 70-80 pounds
    • Potential exposure to pesticides, herbicides, dangerous chemicals and solvents and fertilizers
