Posting Summary
- Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks a Student Counselor for the Division of Continuing Studies. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Off-Campus Programs housed at Brookdale Community College.
- Assists with coordinating enrollment, retention, and student success policies and procedures for students from all regional Rutgers universities, including, but not limited to, recruitment, testing, orientation, registration, retention, academic progress, and graduation certification.
- Conducts outreach efforts with the staff of our community college partners and is actively engaged in social media channels.

- Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years of experience advising students in a higher education setting required.
Certifications/Licenses
- Use of personal vehicle to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license is required for this position as well as a clean driving record.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have knowledge and understanding of diverse undergraduate student populations' needs and challenges.
- Must have strong organizational skills, strong communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong skill set with technology, willingness to travel and creative decisionmaking skills.
- Ability to work independently and/or with mínimal supervision a must.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred but not required.
- Three years of experience advising students in a higher education setting.
- Experience with Adobe Products, Canva, Salesforce CRM preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Fast paced, deadlinedriven, confidential, team environment with requirement to skillfully and professional handle multiple shifting priorities, interacting successfully with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of the university community.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
Special Conditions
- Works one day per week at the Rutgers office at Mercer County Community College.
