The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Spatial Development (IÖR) is announcing the following position, initially limited to 3 years in accordance with the WissZeitVG, with the perspective and intention of permanent employment, to be filled as soon as possible:

Director of the IÖR Research Data Center (m/f/d)
TV-L E 15, 100% (40 hours per week)

The IÖR is a non-university research institution and a member of the Leibniz Association. We research the characteristics, dynamics, and control of spatial sustainability transformations and their potential acceleration in the context of the global human-ecological crisis.

A particular importance is placed on sustainable land use and spatial structure. Requirements for renewable energy production, biodiversity promotion, as well as efficient and circular resource use, and climate resilience are increasingly coming into conflict in limited spaces. To answer the associated questions, small-scale data is needed for research purposes and decision support in various contexts.

Since 2023, the IÖR has been operating a research data center (IÖR-FDZ) and offers cross-scale and cross-sector, high-resolution object- and spatial-related data, indicators, models, simulations, and tools to support sustainability transformations in neighborhoods, cities, and regions. Information on land use, settlements, buildings, and ecosystems is available.
