Description

The Safety Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our crews and clients while operating on various job sites, including roofing, solar, coatings, and other construction projects.

Reporting directly to the Safety Manager, the Safety Specialist will be primarily responsible for implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting inspections, providing training, and supporting incident management.

• Collaborate closely with the Safety Manager to develop and maintain a robust safety culture within the organization.
• Conduct daily job site visits to observe work practices, identify potential hazards, and provide coaching and support as needed.
• Implement and enforce Cal-OSHA regulations specific to roofing and solar installations.
• Lead weekly safety talks with construction crews, ensuring effective communication of safety procedures in both English and Spanish.
• Perform monthly safety inspections of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, ladders, and other essential safety equipment.
• Conduct biannual inspections of fall protection gear to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for construction projects in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
• Respond to incidents promptly, including taking photographs and conducting interviews as part of the investigation process.
• Monitor vehicle safety on job sites, including loading practices and overall vehicle condition, and report any concerns to the Safety Manager.
• Previous experience in construction safety is required.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, is preferred
• Strong understanding of Cal-OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent is required within the first 90 days of employment.
• Competent Person certification in fall protection is required within the first 180 days of employment.
• Clean driving record and ability to travel to various job sites within Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
