    JOB OBJECTIVE:
    The Market Development Manager, Veterinary Sciences plays a crucial role in blending market and business development to foster growth within this sector. This position supports and enhances the Segment Marketing Manager's efforts by focusing on veterinary sciences, aiming for market expansion and sales enhancement to boost revenue. The Market Development Manager will be responsible for building high, wide, and deep industry connections, establishing key relationships and collaborations, and identifying long-term growth opportunities. Their work significantly influences the Applied Markets business strategy and success in the Veterinary Sciences segment, emphasizing both market broadening and business advancement.


    CORE DUTIES:


    • Gain a thorough understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive environment in Veterinary Sciences to guide strategic & tactical business decisions. Also, maintain current knowledge of regulatory, industry, and licensing matters that affect the Applied Markets, especially in the Veterinary/Animal Sciences segments.
    • Enhance sales and marketing efforts by showcasing the capabilities of Promega and its Applied Markets business unit to top-level executives and business development managers within the Veterinary Sciences sector.
    • Conduct and analyze research to uncover new market opportunities, create strategies for entering and penetrating these markets, and establish key partnerships with stakeholders in both targeted and emerging markets.
    • Assist Segment Marketing in formulating global strategies and tactical plans for market segments. Ensure Product Managers, Product Marketing, and Branch Marketing agree with these marketing and tactical initiatives.
    • Collaborate with the Segment Marketing Manager, Product Managers, and Product Marketing Managers to contribute to strategic product roadmaps. This includes conducting situation analyses, SWOT analysis, positioning products/technologies, estimating market size, segmenting customers, and setting appropriate pricing. Ensure products meet market demands and accurately define the market potential for new concepts.
    • Relay vital information from the field to cross-functional teams and work together with these teams to influence product development and service offerings. Ensure that launches are tailored to the veterinary sciences market and address local requirements effectively.
    • Promote new products in development and identify early adopters, alpha and beta testers within the Veterinary Sciences market.
    • Leverage teamwork and leadership skills to foster deeper and more impactful relationships, aiming for long-term revenue growth and enhanced customer satisfaction. Focus on the Veterinary Sciences market, including academic institutions, within the bioanalytical and molecular testing space.
    • Effectively collaborate with multiple corporate teams including and not limited to Strategic Business Units, Branches, Global Sales, R&D, and Global Custom and OEM Solutions Team to ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
    • Support and/or create internal training materials and programs focused on the latest technologies, applications, trends, and best practices in the veterinary sciences market, aimed at fulfilling customer needs. Additionally, provide training for distributors when necessary.
    • Proactively engage with industry leaders and arrange discussions between Promega's R&D scientists and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to align product development with current industry trends. Collaborate with KOLs to create and deliver posters, presentations, and workshops at major scientific conferences, enhancing Promega's visibility and influence in the veterinary sciences field.
    • Develop and present compelling presentations for individual stakeholders or groups, regardless of size. Act as Promega's representative at local, regional, or global industry events, conferences, and seminars. Also, lead customer seminars and contribute to regional sales meetings to enhance understanding and engagement with Promega's offerings in the veterinary sciences sector.
    • Adapt to change with flexibility, maintain a high standard of excellence, and persistently pursue goals despite challenges. Be mindful of how actions and behavior affect colleagues, contributing positively to a team effort and making a significant impact towards shared objectives.

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Sciences, Life Sciences, Marketing or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
    2. 5+ years of experience in market or business development, preferably with a focus on veterinary sciences or biotechnology industries.


    • Deep understanding of the veterinary sciences market, including insights into major players, the regulatory landscape, competitive technologies, and industry standards. Have functional knowledge in strategic business planning and providing sales support.
    • Strong networking skills and ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders, including decision-makers and senior officials in applied market reference labs, public health laboratories, industrial manufacturers, and regulatory bodies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building strong relationships with key industry decision-makers and senior-level colleagues worldwide. Demonstrate strong emotional and social intelligence to enhance effectiveness in these interactions.
    • Capable of understanding, presenting, and engaging in discussions on scientific subjects at an intermediate level. Exhibits strong analytical skills, adept at problem-solving and strategic planning.
    • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills with a focus on prioritizing tasks effectively. Maintain a relentless approach to prioritization and embody a proactive, 'can-do' attitude in all endeavors.
    • Highly self-motivated and independent, with a strong drive and determination to succeed.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


    • PhD in Veterinary Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline.
    • Master of Business Administration.
    • Possesses technical expertise in at least three scientific fields or Applied Market segments relevant to Promega, including areas of emerging technology.
    • Operational knowledge of regulatory environments and the adoption of analytical methods in Applied Markets.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


    • Ability to travel internationally 20-25% and domestically minimum of 50-55%.
    • Ability to use telephone and computer equipment.
    • Ability to move up to 60 lbs.
    • Ability to drive a vehicle.
