Summary:


Island Creek is seeking a Journeyman Drafter to provide on-site Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Services Support for the United States Air Force (USAF) 787th Construction Engineering Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Lakehurst, New Jersey.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the Engineering Request System (ERS) and shared Project Folders to track and execute requests for CADD Support. Establish and maintain ERS logs and project folders as work comes in & during execution, to document project correspondence, data, tools, and output.
  • Utilize the AutoCAD software suite to collect, compile, and validate data for concept, preliminary & final design/other drawings in coordination with requirements identified by the Engineering staff. Perform location, construction, and asconstructed engineering & facility surveys; data collection and/or verification may include field work in all seasons and/or adverse weather. Analyze survey & asbuilt library data, performing conversion & compilation from graphic/physical sources or vector representations. Develop & maintain facility architectural floorplan information and perform qualitative/quantitative analysis using this information. Incorporate comments/changes resulting from internal technical and customer reviews. Service requests will be scheduled or deferred within three working days, with notification in advance if completion may be delayed.
  • Provide copies of facility drawings, site maps, floor plans and other documents to government personnel as requested. Assist in engineering record searches, and provide consultation regarding system capabilities, methods and procedures, engineering design implications and effective system usage.
  • Manage the asbuilt library of Joint Base buildings and infrastructure to ensure documentation is useable by engineering staff. Assist in the development of procedures for preparing, copying, storing, retrieving, and disseminating information. Identify problems and make recommendations to enhance capabilities and minimize any adverse effects. Maintain the vault and index for incoming drawings and Master Floor Plan changes, completing updates within five working days of receipt.
  • Attend design review, technology related workgroups, and other meetings to coordinate information, learn user needs and adapt to changes in design procedures.

Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Demonstrated knowledge of National CAD Standards.

Required Education:

AA, AS, or AAS from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.


ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION:
High School Diploma/GED with an additional six (6) years of experience in the functional duties.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.


Travel:

Local travel is required for this position. A valid state issued driver's license is required.
