    Job Description:

    Under the guidance of a Dean and/or Executive Director of Nursing Programs, the Master of Science, Nursing (MSN)/Accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing Program (ABSN) Director is responsible for the supervision and oversight of the program's faculty and staff. The Director also has oversight of the student population within the programs and works jointly with faculty to enhance the student experience, provide counsel and academic advisement. They act as a liaison with other MSMU University departments such as advisement, financial and/or admissions in addition to serving as a resource to other academic advisors across the University on relevant academic policies and procedures providing accurate and timely information. Develop and maintain relationships with academic departments to facilitate the inter-program transfer process for students.

    Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $1110,000 - $115,000

    Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Assumes duties of ABSN/MSN Director.
    2. Provide leadership in:
    • Formulating goals, objectives, and policies relevant to the MSN/ABSN programs in collaboration with executive leadership and/or faculty
    • Program evaluation
    • Faculty development/professional growth
    • Develops/promotes positive relationships with clinical affiliates and their personnel
    • Student screening and selection for admissions
    • Student retention and remediation
    • Regulatory and/or accrediting processes
    3. Supervise and assume responsibility for:
    • Curriculum development/modification and implementation in collaboration with faculty that is aligned with the philosophy of the University, Department of Nursing and/or regulatory/accrediting bodies.
    • Collaborating with executive leadership in preparing program accreditation reports and/or other accreditation activities or those related to program approval.
    • Overseeing program budget
    • Screening, evaluating, and advising of potential student candidates
    • Ongoing advisement, monitoring, and advocacy of and for students and the program
    • Planning and implementing orientation for admitted students
    • Developing teaching assignments with faculty
    • Co-chairing/leading program and/or nursing department meetings
    • Liaise with other programs
    • In collaboration with executive leadership and other nursing directors, faculty recruitment and selection
    • Manage Course Offering Selection Report and Planning Papers for the academic year
    • Participating in regular program meetings
    • Evaluating faculty per University Status Committee guidelines
    • Annual review of staff per HR guidelines
    • Manage staff time-off requests and time-card approval
    • Collaborating with Director of Clinical Placements regarding clinical placements
    • Collaborate with Director of Experiential Learning regarding simulation
    • Insuring compliance with BRN/CCNE regulations/standards
    • Maintaining faculty and student handbooks
    4. To represent the ABSN/MSN Program in:
    • Establishing and maintaining agency affiliations in cooperation with executive leadership and Clinical Placement Team
    • Collaborating with Graduate Admissions Department in the assistance of student recruitment
    • Providing/developing external relations with professional organizations
    • Attending BRN, AACN and CACN meetings
    5. Simultaneously serves on nursing and University committee(s)

    6. Teach 2 - 5 units per academic year.

    Requirements:

    Knowledge:

    Strong working knowledge of curriculum for the BS/ MSN degrees; academic advisement process, admissions procedures, evaluation process, BRN/CCNE rules and regulations, and budget management.

    Abilities and Skills:

    Demonstrates managements and leadership abilities. A passion for academic excellence and leadership. Ability to foster a collegial and respectful work and educational environment. Innovative and creative problem-solver, with a willingness to take risks. Deatile oriented. Exercise sound judgment and decision making. Genuine understanding of the University mission and the importance of providing undergraduate and graduate students with the highest quality educational experience. Strong working knowledge of BRN regulatory rules/regulation in addition CCNE accreditation process and accreditation maintenance. Effectively organize and manage multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. Accurately identify areas of need and implements corrective measures. Provide sound counsel and academic advisement to students. Confident public speaker. Communicate effectively with the students, faculty, staff, executive leadership, university community, and the public. Collect, analyze, and accurately interpret departmental data. Should have a working knowledge of Kaplan and their NCLEX testing tools.

    Education:

    Must have a valid nursing license with a terminal degree (DNP, or PhD) from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing, education, or administration.

    Experience:
    1. Established record of effective, strong and collaborative leadership
    2. Working knowledge of BRN rules/regulations, approval processes and CCNE accreditation
    3. Curriculum development and revision
    4. A minimum of one year's experience in an administrative position with validated performance of administrative responsibilities
    5. A minimum of two years of experience teaching in a post-licensure registered nursing program
    6. At least one year of continuous experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience and/or education
    7. Experience with hybrid/online learning
    Licenses and Certifications:

    Eligible for RN license in state of California

    Other Requirements:

    Additional Information:

    Work Location: Primarily Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) with some travel for meetings etc. at the Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles)
    Start Date: Immediately
