JOB SUMMARY:

Assesses the insurability of real estate transactions; recognizes and resolves title problems and related issues. In-house Champaign office position that may also involve providing management oversight and leadership in the recruitment, training, motivation and management of downstate personnel and agents.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Makes underwriting decisions on matters raised by Advocus agents and staff.
• Conducts staff and Advocus agent training on underwriting-related topics.
• Develops and revises underwriting content on the Advocus website.
• Updates written underwriting materials and notifies Advocus members of changes to the guidelines.
• Handles complex and problem files.
• Provides legal and technical assistance to Advocus staff and independent closers.
• Participates in trade organization- and industry-related working groups as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of regular real estate practice.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Critical thinking.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Attentive to detail.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work under pressure with compressed deadlines in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Advocus title policy programs.
• Ability to work with a diverse and challenging customer base.
• Public speaking experience is a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Law Degree and active license to practice law in Illinois.
