    As our Labor and Industries Auditor 4, you'll directly support the mission of L&I as it pertains to safeguarding the safety and health of the workforce by ensuring employers carry industrial insurance and pay the correct amount of industrial insurance premiums as it relates to the assigned risk classification(s) for their business.


    In this role, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a robust State fund and the integrity of the industrial insurance system to 'Keep Washington Safe and Working' by adequately providing medical care and financial assistance for injured workers.


    Some of what you'll do:

    • Supervise the Audit Analysis Unit (AAU) auditors who review and delegate audit referrals to determine premium liability for industrial insurance and works with regional supervisors to provide referrals for field audit staff.
    • Develop, update, and maintain documentation of the audit referral review processes and manual.
    • Evaluate audit referrals, plan's resources, prepares assignments and delegates assignments to auditors based on workload and time requirements.
    • Disseminate current departmental information and coordinates policy and procedure matters between management and audit staff.
    • Lead projects that ensure the efficiency of the unit. Coordinates all activities for the unit.
    • Oversee and provides uniform and consistent communication, technical expertise, and project management for the statewide Field Audit program
    • Coordinate the Language Access Program process for the Field Audit program.
    • Review, analyze, and provide input on new and/or proposed Legislation.

    Required:

    • A Bachelor's degree that includes at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting (may include credits from one (1) Finance class or one (1) Business Law class) AND four (4) years of professional accounting or auditing experience.
    OR


    • Successful completion of the Labor and Industries Auditor Training Program.
    OR


    • Equivalent education/experience will be considered but must include at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting (may include credits from one (1) Finance class or one (1) Business Law class).

    Desired:

    • Two (2) years of experience as a Field Audit Supervisor or Litigation Specialist.
    • A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or closely allied field, or certification as a Public Accountant, Fraud Examiner, Internal Auditor, Information System Auditor,
    • Management Accountant or equivalent certification will substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
    • Strong knowledge of RCW Title 51, WAC 296-17, and WAC 296-17A.

    For this position, telework is dependent upon business needs and supervisor approval. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
