Description

This position is 32.5 hours per week (6.5 hours per day with a 1/2 hr unpaid lunch) and the hours are from 8:15 am -3:15 pm or 8:45 am - 3:45 pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare instructional material and learning activities in the assigned classroom.
Provide direct instruction to groups of students or individuals in or out of the classroom.


This may include:

Implementation of individualized and small group instruction and discussionsAccommodating and modifying materials to match students needs as prescribed by the teacher.

Assist with the collection of student dataConsult with teachers on students progress and on specific strategies and methodologies to be used.

Supervise unstructured time such as recess and/or lunch duty unless directed otherwise.

Assist the teacher in clean-upAssists with any other tasks students are not able to perform for themselvesDepending on assignment, assist in escorting children to and from vehicles during drop-off or pick-up.

Assist students in using technologyAssist substitutes in following lesson plans when the classroom teacher is absentAbility to lift 30lbs.

independentlyWillingness to participate in toileting activities is requiredProvide other related duties to support the students in the preschool program that the Principal, Special Education Director, and/or teacher may assignA paraprofessional may be assigned to a particular position, classroom, or student.

It is the expectation of the Billerica Public Schools, when the need arises, a paraprofessional is willing to help any student who may require assistance and/or as directed by the classroom teacher or related service providers.
