Overview and Essential Functions:
Golden State Utility Co. is a highly motivated outside plant and wireless contractor serving the telecommunications and utility industries throughout the western US.

We specialize in construction of OSP fiber and wireless telecommunications as well as other client-specific infrastructure, emergency restoration and engineering services.

With over 35 years' experience, we are a leader in the utility industry.

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting, facilitating and engaging the principles of the corporate safety program.

The Safety Supervisor supports the Field Operations staff by providing critical information and guidance regarding safe work procedures, workplace safety regulations, corporate policies and adopted best practices.

Field Safety Supervisor conduct job site observations, guide workers through complicated safe work practices, educate employees on safety regulations, policies and procedures, identify hazards, suggest methods of hazard mitigation, respond to emergency situations, investigate incidents, provide reports and communicate information critical to the prevention of accidents, injuries and near misses.


_ This position will primarily cover our Bay Area locations (Gilroy and Fremont) but must be able to travel to other locations as neccEssary


Other locations include:
Sacramento, Selma and Manteca._


What you'll get...

  • Conducts job site safety observations
  • Implements compliance measures for safety standards, best practices, safe work procedures and safety policies
  • Provides guidance and education on safe work procedures, best practices, regulations, policies and use of safety equipment
  • Communicates with site staff and management to ensure a full understanding of the expectations of the safety program
  • Conducts and completes incident investigations
  • Assist with the development of JHA's
  • Completes site observation reports, investigation reports and near misses
  • Attends and runs safety meetings
  • Promotes a total safety culture
  • Supports corporate safety initiatives
  • Develops facilitates and provides training programs as necessary
  • Responds to emergencies
  • Represents company at onsite regulatory inspections
  • Escorts visitors on job sites
  • Conducts new hire orientations and other safety trainings
  • Attends relevant conferences meetings, training, etc. appropriate for the position
  • Responds to emergency call out, storm duty, and other applicable emergency response demands as assigned by Director of Safety
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Safety

Qualifications:

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED required; 2year degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels in a construction environment
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel to locations being supported
  • Sacramento, Fresno, and Bay Area

Preferred Qualifications:


  • First-Aid/CPR/AED Certified Instructor
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified Trainer
  • Prior experience in telecommunications construction
  • OSHA 500 Certified Trainer
  • Competent Person Trench and Excavation Training
  • Confined Space Training
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License strongly preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish higly encouraged
