The patient transporter is directly responsible for the courteous, safe and timely movement of patients from one patient care area to another within the Medical Center.
Responsibilities
Moves patients between their beds on either a stretcher wheelchair according to the guidelines and procedures.
Use the two hospital patient identifiers (name and date of birth) both verbally and by visual checking of the patient ID band.
Pay careful attention to the IV bag and other assistive devices when moving the patient. Adhere to and comply with infection and safety practices. Ensure the maintenance of the patient's confidentiality and privacy.Collaborates with nursing staff to ensure appropriate movement and transport of patient.
Handles and delivers patients chart according to hospital and department policies.
Dept :
Deliver and pick up clean and dirty instruments to and from SPD. Deliver specimens or pick up required items from Laboratory/Pathology, Radiology and Medical Records. Deliver patient belongings to appropriate clinical area as directed by the supervisor.

Check package integrity, rotate stock inventory according to expiration date and ensure that the floor to ceiling clearances are maintained.
Transport sterile supplies coming from outside the department in a covered transport cart. Stock the blanket and fluid warmers.Dept :
During down times maintain O2 stock by safely collecting and storing 02 per hospital rooms. At the direction of the charge nurse stock patient rooms according to established PAR levels Clean un occupied stretchers. Pick up supplies/ equipment as requested
Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
Entry level position. On the job training will be provided by the Team Leader and Patient Transport staff.
Must be able to support and push patients of various body conditions (weights ranging from 100 lbs to 300+ lbs).
Must be able to work with the paging system that allows the facility to track the movement of the patients and the transport staff.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Experience in patient transport, medical experience and patient contact preferred.
