    Our team of professionals includes full-stack software engineers, solutions architects, data scientists, software quality assurance specialists, technical support engineers and operations specialists.

    The spectrum of our work is broad, ranging from ad hoc solutions tailored to meet the immediate needs of a client to enterprise-scale applications that are critical to long-term business operations for both Milliman and our clients.

    Our application suite includes solutions for data management; scheduling and orchestration; high-performance distributed computing (cloud and on-premises); and customized reporting.

    Moreover, these systems are engineered to realize superior reliability, scalability, governance, performance and security.


    Our technology is the essence of our market-leading application Integrate, used throughout the life insurance industry for financial modelling and reporting, business planning and reporting, and insurance product pricing.

    Integrate is managed by our Life Technology Solutions (LTS) practice, whose collaboration with Microsoft in leveraging Azure for large-scale financial modelling and reporting calculations has made LTS the leading actuarial Microsoft Azure Partner and one of the largest worldwide users of cloud computing services.

    Our technology also serves as the operational foundation for managed services offered by our Financial Risk Management (FRM) practice.

    FRM combines trading, risk management, portfolio management, quantitative finance, technology, and actuarial expertise to provide investment advisory, hedging, and consulting services to institutional clients, managing over $150B USD in global assets.

    What You Will Do


    The QA Engineer role will be responsible for Quality Assurance on a subset of solutions developed by the LTS team under the product umbrella of Integrate, such as the calculation engine, workflow engine, data management, and/or distributed computing.

    The range of work will include manual testing and test automation as required.

    Based out of Chicago, this role will report to the Senior QA Engineer.

    You Will

    Perform manual testing of systems as required
    Automate test cases using appropriate technologies at the unit and integration levels
    Perform front-end as well as back-end testing including databases
    Develop mock/stub models for testing/QA
    Participate in meetings with the QA team as well as with developers and end-users
    Proactively learn system functionality and how those systems participate in business processes
    Work closely with developers and other testers to understand requirements
    Work with users to determine use cases
    Design and document creative test cases
    Execute and report test case results
    Create detailed bug reports, as needed

    Job Knowledge, Experience Skills

    Job Knowledge Required

    S. in Computer Science or related field
    3 or more years of QA experience in a related industry
    Proficiency in C# and/or Python
    Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium
    Knowledge of waterfall and Agile development life cycles
    Experience with databases and development of database queries, preferably with SQL Server
    Experience with systems testing and test case development
    Proficiency with black-box and white-box testing
    Experience with regression testing

    Experience And Soft Skills Required

    Familiarity with Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Zephyr
    Understanding of git, subversion and Azure DevOps pipelines
    Excellent communication skills
    Good teamwork skills

    Additional Knowledge And Skills To Build

    Experience in the financial industry preferred
    Ability to automate test cases using appropriate technologies
    Ability to integrate automated tests with automation/continuous integration tools such as Azure Pipelines and/or Jenkins
    Experience with Performance and/or Load testing
    Experience with API testing (including tools such as Postman or Curl)
    Experience coding in VBA


    Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Chicago, IL on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered.
