Position Summary:

The General Maintenance Technician will be responsible for keeping the school building in good repair, works closely with specialty contractors to assist with repairs, requests needed materials and supplies.

The General Maintenance Technician completes tasks while maintaining high standards and upholds the mission and philosophy of the school.


Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned)**:

• Changes lights and does general repairs as needed and directed (i.e. chairs, tables, doors, windows, clocks, etc.)
• Changes the ballast in the lights and other electrical work that falls within scope of the ability and expertise.
• Assembles new furniture and equipment.
• Repairs toilets, sinks, leaky faucets and pipes and completes other minor plumbing repairs.
• Replaces ceiling and floor tiles.
• Repairs student lockers as reported.
• Follows the procedures for work order requests as specified by the Director of Facilities.
• Assists custodians with tasks as directed
• Responds to emergency clean up needs in a prompt manner while complying with OSHA regulations regarding the proper disposal of body wastes and/or fluids.
• Reports any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Director of Facilities.
• Works collaboratively with the facilities department on event setups and takedowns with a combined cleanup effort post event.
• Keeps equipment in good, clean, working order throughout the building.
• Responds to emergency needs in a prompt manner.
• Some overtime is required which may be on the weekends.
• Must have Valid drivers license and be able to drive non CDL passenger bus as needed.

Education/Experience Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of previous related experience is preferred.
• Previous experience with Steam HVAC is a plus.
• Light plumbing and electrical experience is required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively as well as possess a strong ability to work well with others.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, moving heavy objects along with standing for long periods of time.
• Occasionally must be able lift, carry, pull, push, and/or move up to 75 pounds.
