Job Summary


The Service-Learning Events & Promotions Coordinator coordinates events, event volunteers, promotions, and communications to facilitate and deliver successful events by the Office of Service Learning & Civic Engagement (SLCE).

Ensures that all events, workshops, trainings, and meetings serve to connect students and faculty to meaningful service-learning opportunities in the community.

Works toward contributing to larger office, unit, and university-wide goals and objectives.

Job Description:

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and supports events, event volunteers, promotions, and communications that connect students and faculty with service-learning opportunities and the Office of Service Learning & Civic Engagement.
  • Plans and assists with all events, workshops, meetings, and trainings, including but not limited to the recruitment of event volunteers, promotion of events, space reservations, and other event logistics.
  • Provides opportunities for students to explore, secure, and engage in servicelearning opportunities connected to their course work, major, and/or career path. Provides opportunities for faculty to learn to integrate servicelearning components into their classroom course materials.
  • Serves as a point of contact for all community partners connecting with FGCU specifically for the purpose of attending, supporting, and/or engaging with SLCE through events.
  • Supports marketing efforts, both print and digital, through planning and execution for outreach to all students, faculty, staff, and community partners to meet SLCE event attendance goals.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and provides postevent data and recommendations as connected to stated objectives and goals after all events.
  • Assists with semesterly community partner trainings and ongoing community partner recruitment efforts.
  • Assists with community partner database management and management of student servicelearning forms in Eagle Service Network.
  • Meets face to face, over the phone, and virtually with students and community partners to connect them with services and opportunities.
  • Assists with classroom presentations and tabling promotions opportunities across campus.
  • Monitors compliance with college and departmental policies and procedures.
  • May occasionally attend community events and other local networking events as needed to assist with recruiting additional community partners.
  • May hire, train, evaluate and supervise OPS staff, volunteers, and student assistants.

Minimum Qualifications for Service Learning Events & Promotions Coordinator I:

  • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Minimum Qualifications for Service Learning Events & Promotions Coordinator II:

  • This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn online platforms and other University approved software such as Simplicity, Qualtrics, and Zoom.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
