The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a Judicial Diversion Program Coordinator in the Pathway to Public Safety Division.

The goal of the unit is to ensure that eligible defendants are offered programming and services that meet their needs, with the aim of reducing recidivism and promoting public safety.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist unit personnel in implementing and staffing Judicial Diversion (Drug Court).
  • Maintain databases and produce timely statistical reports.
  • Create spreadsheets and charts.
  • Transport drug court files to and from court.
  • Perform various administrative duties in court on calendar days.
  • Correspond with court personnel and defense counsel about rearrests, case scheduling, and conferences.
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents and retrieve closed case information from various jurisdictions.
  • Obtain defendants' criminal histories and other relevant background information.
  • Create, update, and maintain over 400 Drug Court files, including copying and distributing numerous treatment reports per week.
  • Perform other administrative and paralegal duties as assigned.
  • Level bachelor's degree from an accredited college and preferably (1) year of experience in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
  • Level bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two (2) year of experience in the criminal justice field or equivalent.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple shortterm projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff at all levels in a teamoriented environment.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, defendants, defense attorneys and law enforcement personnel.
  • Computer proficiency required: Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel); advanced knowledge of criminal justice investigative internet search techniques.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:


  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Current office employees:To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current position and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
