    Central Valley Indian Health, Inc. (CVIH) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Medical Receptionist/ Appointment Clerk. The incumbent provides front desk receptionist and patient scheduling services. Responsible for obtaining reports, identifying patients with missing health care indicators, and contacting patients to schedule appointments. Screens all patients as prescribed by Fiscal staff, collects data related to patient services, schedules patient appointments, and cancels/ reschedules appointments based on the provider schedule. This is a "Safety Sensitive" position and responsible for HIPAA compliance.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Obtain reports or run reports for HEDIS, Gaps in Care, GPRA, new patients, or other insurance reports, etc.
    2. Identify patients from the reports that indicate missing health care indicators.
    3. Contact patients to schedule appointments to fill in missing health care indicators or to establish care.
    4. Finalize attestations in eCw so that Gaps in Care are closed.
    5. Cover call center or clinic front desk calls as needed.
    6. Maintain a positive image of CVIH by greeting clients in a professional manner and see to their comfort and sense of well-being during their clinic visit. Inform patients of any changes that could delay their appointment/visit.
    7. Register patients, obtain all baseline data necessary for the patient visit and follow-up appointment. Update the medical record with insurance information, updated copy of insurance, eligibility, HIPAA notice, Health History, and annual consent. Update personal information in electronic medical record, including address, phone number, pharmacy, insurance and community.
    8. Collect co-pays, deductibles, share of cost and sliding fee payments, records and balances daily cash receipts and properly routes to the Fiscal Department.
    9. Notify patient by mailing letters about their missed appointments and need to reschedule.
    10. Maintain patient confidentiality according to CVIH standards and protocols.
    11. Responsible for verifying eligibility for PRC, Direct Care, Insurances, Medi-Cal before patient can be seen. Copies of any changes in methods of payments must be changed in the electronic medical record. Insurance card is to be scanned into the electronic medical record.
    12. Responsible for updating patient's demographics, insurance and community.
    13. Check out patients by printing a visit summary and schedule any needed follow-up appointments.
    14. Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide customer service/ support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
    15. Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her supervisor or CVIH Administration.
    Requirements

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
    2. Six months experience in a medical office; Medical Administration or another relevant certificate preferred.
    3. Proficiency in typing, filing, medical terminology, and word processing.
    4. Knowledge of health insurance plans with the ability to navigate web portals.
    5. A valid California Driver's License and clean driving record with the ability to be insured under CVIH's automobile insurance.
    6. An awareness and keen appreciation of, or willingness to learn, Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs. Ability to meet and deal effectively with Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
    7. "Safety Sensitive" positions are subject to random drug testing and are required as a condition of continued employment.
