- Report in person to our office in Santa Cruz, CA
- Plan and/or perform in vitro biochemical and cell-based assays eg. fluorescence, luminescence, qPCR, ELISA, TR-FRET, FP, Alphascreen, etc.
- Utilize, operate, and troubleshoot automation tools including automated liquid handling equipment, when conducting screening campaigns and assays
- Profiling compounds via liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LCMS)
- Develop or contribute to the development of new biochemical assays
- Perform or contribute to the analysis of experimental data for screening and profiling assays and share findings with key stakeholders.
- Generate or contribute to standardized metrics, charts, and reports.
- Work independently or with team members to organize and conduct assigned work.
- Maintain an electronic lab notebook, ensuring experimental methods and results are recorded timely, accurately, and consistently.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, chemical biology, protein engineering, biochemistry, or a related discipline with demonstrated experience in a lab or industry setting.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct scientific experiments and to analyze, interpret, and present experimental results.
- Hands-on experience with basic techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry.
- Industry or academic laboratory experience with compound screening or profiling.
- Proficiency with analytical software, e.g. Excel, PRISM, CDD, Benchling.
- Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge on the job.
- Experience with medium throughput compound screening, robotic automation, and/or assay validation
- Hands-on experience with basic techniques in mammalian cell culture.
- Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated screening and compound profiling Research Associate to be an integral member of our Biology Team. The Biology team identifies and validates molecular targets, evaluates novel drug candidates, and provides forward-thinking approaches to advance our preclinical pipeline.
In this role, you will be responsible for assay development, automation, and routine screening campaigns for our proprietary cyclic peptides in a SAR-driven compound development program. The Research Associate will play a key role in the organization by planning and timely execution of in vitro biochemical and mass spectrometry assays for compound screening. Our ideal candidate will be a positive and proactive team member who will approach their work with enthusiasm and can thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment alongside other motivated scientists.

Base salary of one part of the overall total rewards program, which includes the opportunity to participate in stock programs, performance-based bonus programs, and a competitive benefits package.
